Life@CIMBA

Since I last wrote, I’ve had another couple weeks of classes, the beginning of LEAP, date with a professor, a trip to Asolo with my Italian class and our long travel weekend to Greece. Where to start!?

Classes have continued and it’s amazing how I don’t dread going to class like I would at home. It’s one of the only times in my day that is set to sit and focus without my mind running a hundred different directions on things I have to do.

I wish I could have the AC Milan soccer team’s anthem playing in the background of this blog. Youtube it, it’s catchy.

I’m back from a crazy week of traveling through London and Paris! This week has been pretty crazy with how many tests we had to catch up on. Wow. Anyway, I decided to post the tips I came up with for traveling in London and Paris instead of making you read through pages and pages of information that doesn’t really apply to you…hahaha. I highly recommend going to London while you are studying abroad over here. If you can fit a day or two in Paris that’s great but I’ve got to be honest…it was a lot sketchier than anywhere else I’ve been so far.

A little lyrical reference from the song “Someday” by The Strokes. Great song.

Date With a Professor

So much has happened since I last wrote! Classes are in definite full swing with even a couple tests out of the way. The smaller class sizes and encouraged participation from very enthusiastic professors are a great way to learn the upper level material.

Most of the CIMBA students headed into Venice sometime this weekend to experience Carnevale. I decided to just make it a day trip on Sunday with a couple friends so I could avoid spending excess money on hotel rooms. We looked up the schedule of events to see what free things we could attend (just do a Google search) and got in to Venice around 10:30. It was much easier to get around this time…just follow the flow of traffic!

Bonjourno from the Boot!

Classes have begun and we are all adjusting to the life of travels on the weekends and class 8 AM Monday morning. It was a challenge since we did not get home till 12:30 Sunday night but Cimba has a strict attendance policy so we were all in class Monday morning. This helps them know that everyone has made it back from traveling okay. The strict attendance policy also allows for us to have a lot of traveling time since our class days are mandatory, so it is worth it to me.

Since I last wrote two big events have taken place for me! On Friday my group participated in the Da Vinci low ropes course. This involved more team building activities that were much more physically demanding than the past team building activities! It was very fun to see everyone work together to succeed and feel the adrenaline rush of trying to get the best time in the events. My group did the course inside because it was pretty chilly but it was still super fun!

Tuesday was more classes and then I had a Basic Beliefs and Strengths seminar. I had no idea how many seminars we would be going through in order to learn more about ourselves! The Slovenia trip meeting was at 7 p.m. so, since dinner is from 7-7:30, we had to go across the street to get a sandwich. They make it right while you stand there! She sliced fresh turkey, fresh mozzarella (thick slices!), fresh tomatoes, and then toasted the bread. All of this was under 3 euro and I know it will last me another meal.
